Flower Fairies, Leprechauns and Pixies

The Nature Spirits that are called Flower Fairies, Leprechauns, and Pixies all belong to the same tribe of Fairies, even if they are members of different clans. All of the Fairies are notorious for their intense love of lively, toe tapping music, and dancing amongst the flowers of the field. Gregarious and sometimes jovially rambunctious, they are fond of animals and trees. They also have a keen sense of humor, but, do not suffer fools gladly preferring to pester them with pranks or to play tricks on them instead.

Fairies can vary in height from tiny to about three feet in height. Pixies are fond of wearing toadstool or flower caps over their often red hair and although they are partial to green, they often change the color of their garments as the seasonal cycles change. Leprechauns are usually cheerful, male shoemaker's who are Keepers of various kinds of treasure including the proverbial pot of gold. Leprechauns can be suspicious of humans who are overly inquisitive about whatever they are safeguarding. Flower Fairies swiftly move about flashing their pearly wings, wearing resplendently hued robes. Large groups of them float about together, resembling dewy strings of mist, as they tend the flowers.

How to Contact the Fae

There is a definite distinction between the fae and Nature spirits, although both are intimately tied to the well-being of the land and the environment. The spirits of rivers and stones, the souls of trees, and the energy that is inherent in many parts of the land. These differ greatly from the fae.

Traditionally shy and mischievous, if you approach the fae with a sense of humor, a deep respectfulness, and an open and honest heart, you vastly increase your chances of entering into a beneficial relationship with them.

How to proceed:

  • Speak your intent

  • Demonstrate that you possess the qualities necessary for working with the fae

  • Always leave a gift. Scatter birdseed for the songbirds. Leave a handful of nesting material if its that time of season. A tiny bit of blue thread or ribbon is a treasured gift as it's the color of the sky. And whatever you do, don't expect anything in return. The attitude with which the gift is left is as important as the gift itself.

Their initial response may be subtle. It could be something as simple as a beautiful feather or stone left where you can find it. (This happens to me a lot)

But keep in mind that the fae are terribly mischievous. Part of this is simply their love of laughter and you'll find them playing small pranks on you, expecting you to laugh with them. (Even if you don't always think it is funny - you may as well laugh because we all know laughter is medicine and good for the soul).

Once you begin to connect with the natural world you will begin to feel the places where the veil between the worlds is thin, where natural energy pools and grows. It's then simply a matter of making sure your heart is in the right place and that the fae know your intent.

With a long history in pagan circles, many magickal teas help to open your psychic centers, which in turn, will naturally assist you in see the fae as well as any number of other beings. To make these teas use about 2 Tablespoons dry herbs per cup of tea.

As always, please be certain of your herbs and if you are allergic or not to that herb. Not sure? - rub some of the herb on the inside of your arm or try drinking a small (quarter teaspoon full) of the tea. 24 hours later take another quarter teaspoon. No reaction - probably safe.

Echinacea
Valerian
Peppermint

Catnip

Try these combinations of herbs or mix and match to suit your taste. (That's what it's all about you know)

If you wish to sweeten your tea, try to do so with natural sweeteners, such as honey or rice syrup.

And remember to empower your tea with your visualization of their intended function as you brew the herbs.
